Working with the Borough Council

The Older People’s Forum conducts work in partnership with a number of departments at Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council in many forms.

Work we have carried out with the Council typically takes the following forms: -

  • Monthly meetings – officers from the Borough Council will often present at meetings on a variety of issues of interest and/or concern to people aged 50 and above. Question and answer sessions often take place where members can raise personal concerns with the officer and have their queries answered in person. The meetings are a way of communicating information about new services and changes to existing services.
  • Focus Groups – the Older People’s Forum convenes Focus Groups to look in detail at a variety of pertinent issues. Council officers often attend/present to these Groups to enable detailed consultation and information sharing between the Council and older residents.
