OPF Focus Groups 2008 

 

31 July 2008          2.00pm     St John's Centre

FREE LEISURE FOR THE OVER 50'S - Hopefully many of you will be taking adcantage of the free Beez Cards that are intended to encourage more Active Participation through leisure in Blackburn with Darwen.  This meeting is your opportunity to have your say about the scheme.

CANCER AWARENESS - at the end of September the Primary Care Trust is launching a Cancer Awareness Project.  The empahsis is to probote prevention of the disease and to help people to recognise the symptoms for early diagnosis. If you are interested in encouraging older people to access services for early detection and treatment cancer this meeting is for you.  This Focus group will be led by health professioals who are interesrted to find out what will motivate people to seek help.

OPF Excursions 2008     

 

19 August 2008           Windermere

The Social Committee has arranged an outing to Windermere when members will be able to browse around the town or take a trip on the lake etc. 

 

16 September 2008        Lowry Art Gallery/War Museum

A trip which gives members the option of visiting the Art Gallery or the War Mumseum

 

Both of the above trips are subject to a £3 per person charge, payable on the day.  Preference will be given to those members who regularly support the Forum Meetings.  Please complete the orange insert from your last newsletterand return to the Forum Office no later than 25 July.

 

 

OPF Events 2008

IT'S FILM TIME!! - Tickets (£2) for "The Water Horse" - Legend of the Deep can be purchased either on the day or in advance from King George's Hall or Darwen Library Theatre.  Meet up with other Forum members to see this memorable film in good company

 

14 August 2008          1.30pm     Good Shepherd Hall, Earl Street, Blackburn

DOMINOES - An opportunity to socialise and make new friends whilst enjoying a game of dominoes.  Cost: £1.50 - light refreshments will be available. 

(Please note that this venue id unable to offer toilet facilities to the disabled)

 

26 August 2008          1.30pm     Sunnyhurst Woods Darwen

A WALK IN THE WOODS - Meet other members at the main gates on Falcon Avenue (Just off the A666).  Please note those taking part will be required to complete a form for health & safety purposes.

 

26 August 2008          1.30pm     East Lancs Cricket Club, Dukes Brow, Blackburn

BOWLING - Cost £2.25 - After the success of the last bowling session, the Cricket Club has offered us the use of their two bowling greens.  Cost includes the hire of bowls for the afternooon and some light refreshments.  Come and just watch if you aren't feeling energetic enough to take part.  Please remember that flat shoes must be worn on the greens. 

 

9 September 2008          1.30pm     Knott Street Community Centre, Darwen

BEETLE DRIVE - Cost £1.50 - Have an afternoon of fun and meet new people - light refreshment are included in the cost.  Raffle

We are collecting good quality items to use as Raffle prizes.  If you can help by donating a prize please bring to the OPF office in St John's Centre, or to one of the meetings.
