Local Strategic Partnership & Community Network

Local Strategic Partnership

The Older People's Forum has strong representation on the Local Strategic Partnership, a body made up of representatives from all sectors of the community in Blackburn with Darwen. Representatives of the Older People's Forum sit on the Local Strategic Partnership Board.

The Local Strategic Partnership has a variety of sub-groups (organisational chart [.pdf]).

Of these, the most pertinent to older people is the 50+ Partnership.

In addition to the 50+ Partnership, the Older People's Forum is represented on the Health & Well-Being Partnership and People & Communities Forum.

Community Network

The Community Network is a body which consults with the voluntary, community & faith sectors (VCFS) in a way akin to the Local Strategic Partnership. The Community Network also provides a voice for groups from the VCFS at the Local Strategic Partnership.

In certain areas, including representing people over the age of 50, the Community Network allows delegates from certain partner organisations to elect representatives to sit on the Community Network Board. In the case of older people, the partner organisation is the Older People's Forum, who are allocated seats at the Community Network Board.

In addition to using partner organisations in this manner, there are various sub-groups of the Community Network, among which are the Third Sector Health & Well-Being Forum and Safer & Stronger Communities Forum, at which the Older People's Forum is strongly represented.

The substructures of the Community Network are, in essence, a facsimile of those of the Local Strategic Partnership, as can be seen from the "map" below.
